Hi, I'm Moira, thanks for visiting my page. I offer individual and group counselling support for a range of difficulties. I can help with anxiety and mood conditions and specialise in generalised anxiety, OCD, social anxiety, depression, and low self esteem.

A bit about Cognitive Behavioural Therapy...

For those who are unfamiliar with or new to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, CBT is a form of therapy that explores the connection between our thoughts, feelings, physical reactions and behaviours.

We all experience moments of anxiety, stress and tension in our day-to-day lives but sometimes our threat system can go into overdrive, and we can't quite identify why. CBT is premised on the evidence that our life experiences often influence the view we have of ourselves, the world, and others, and that these may be at the root of what we experience and how we experience it.

 

It is a client centered talking therapy that compassionately explores past experiences in relation to current problems. It focuses on positive changes that can be made in the present using guided self-discovery. Some of the things you could expect to be doing in this therapy would involve re-framing thoughts, accepting difficult emotions, and experimenting with personal behavioural goals.
